Milk explained
Jump to Comments
I mentioned in an earlier post Milk For Mildews that milk worked well for us for the control of Mildews. I have had this explained further today. Louisa Hargrave kindly wrote to say the following;
“I just read in wine Business Monthly that milk works as a fungicide by
releasing free oxygen radicals in sunlight, thus destroying the fungal
hyphae and conidia. Lactoferrin also ruptures the fungal conidia. (March
2007, Page 42″
Also Lenn Thompson has correctly mentioned today in Lenndevours that its because we use raw milk (in other words it is not pasturised) that it contains microflorae and they destroy the mold and mildew.
Thanks to you all for this explanation.
