Boring termite
This is actually rather interesting for those interestd in vineyard pests.
While pruning the vines we invariably had to cut through some thicker trunks. In cross section you can see a large hole and on closer inspection a small termite like insect was in side, not doing too much, a very slow mover infact.
I am eager to know if this was a termite that had bored its way into the trunk or if it was another insect all together.

We only found this in one of the vines that we cut back. There was no evidence of the normal mud tunnels that they make, and there were only two of them in the hole that I could see so they did not seem to be too social unless they were the beginnings of a colony.
Anyhow I destroyed them and next time I guess I should collect them and get them in for identification. I took a couple of images in any case.
